Misson 2: Deep in the Shadows
There are 9 Kodama in this mission.
Kodama Locations
1. (Black Bowl Hat Kodama)
This one be found pretty quickly at the start. When you get to a hill you can turn to the right where you will encounter two bandits/villagers. Finish them off and next to the house there is a small shack, break the wooden cart to reveal a Kodama.
2. (Red Bowl Hat Kodama)
Turn around and keep following the path straight ahead, when you get to the area with the graveyard to your left, go up the hill and you will enter a new area with lots of trees. There is a small path that goes to the right that allows you to go up another small hill with a big tree in the middle. Check behind this tree nad you will find the Kodama hidden in the grass.
3. (White Bowl Hat Kodama)
Go towards the small shed with the torches in front of it and follow the path up, when you get to a crossroads turn and you will see a big tree in the center. Run towards it and turn left and you will see the Kodama chilling on the edge.
Option 2: You can also get this after you get your shortcut (kick ladder down) to the first shrine of the mission. Climb back up the ladder and follow the path and turn right, keep going straight untill you see a big tree near the cliff turn left and you will see the Kodama chilling on the edge.
4. (Brown Bowl Hat Kodama)
This is near the first locked gate you come across, in the area where you fight your first Yokai and find the key to open the door. When looking towards the building where the Yokai/Key resides, turn left and check behind the bamboo fence to find a confused little Kodama waiting to be guided.
5. (Brown Bowl Hat Kodama)
Open the first locked gate you will enter the big village area. Run near the edge of the cliff, look down and you will see a little edge that leads to the roofs of this area. The Kodama is on the left of this ledge.
6. (Rice Farmer Hat Kodama)
In the big village area there is a house that you enter that will lead you up the roof. Look under the boards from where you are standing and you will see the kodama hiding under the boards.
7. (Black Bowl Hat Kodama)
Go towards the 2 huge watch towers in this area and drop down onto a roof from the left watch tower if you are looking at the ship/shore. Run to the other side of the roof and there will be another little shack roof - The Kodama is chilling on this roof.
8. (Rice Farmer Hat Kodama)
Once you leave the village, you will end up at a coast with a big ship while looking towards the ship - turn/look left and you should see the Kodama on the edge of the water.
Be careful here and hug the mountain on your left and guide the Kodama back to the shrine.
9. (White Bowl Hat Kodama)
On the other side of this area, you can go up a hill to open the door for your shortcut to the shore.
Keep following the path and you will see the Kodama right in front you down the path.
That's it for this mission!
Kodama Guide / Info
There are little green cute creatures named Kodama (spirits that inhabit trees in Japanese folklore) scattered through all the missions.
Some are pretty well hidden and others are just chilling in some house/shack waiting to be picked up.
Each Kodama belongs to a certain blessing, they have cute little traditional Japanese hats that will let you know to which blessing they belong.
They will a certain blessing depending on which Kodama you have found.
Be careful fighting near them though, they will hide and dig underground (you will only see their hat) until you have cleared the enemies near them.
The blessing are as follows
Oracle Blessing – Increases the amount of Amarita acquired by a percentage (Rice Farmer Hat)
Swordsman Blessing – Increases weapon drop rate by a percentage (Red Bowl Hat)
Warrior Blessing – Increases armor drop rate by a percentage (Black Bowl Hat)
Healer Blessing – Increases elixir drop rate by a percentage (White Bowl Hat)
Hunter Blessing – Increases ammunition drop rate by a percentage (Brown Bowl Hat)
Elixirs Restock Upgrade
Kodama also have another very important role which is that they will give a extra elixir after you die. For each 5 kodama that you can find you will be given 1 more elixir when you die.
For example you have 0 elixirs left in the storage and died and found 0 kodama, the shrine will give you 3 elixirs. If you found 5 kodama you will start with 4. if you found 25 in the region you will start with 8 even if you 0 elixirs in the storage.
