Where can I find them?
The best blood gems can be found in Depth 5 Chalice Dungeons with offerings (Guide to get to Depth 5 will be added soon) and they are all cursed.
You only need to make a Depth 5 dungeon once with either Cursed / Rotted / Fettid offering to be able to unlock all Depth 5 dungeons with offerings.
What this means is that you only need to make one Depth 5 offering dungeon with your own materials and then can search for a better dungeon.
You can find all the dungeons with the best tier blood gems on this spreadsheet.
Just type in the code and the dungeon will be made for you for some delicious farming.

What are Cursed gems?
Cursed gems are gems with a negative effect(see below) all gems can have this effect.
The negative effect is random and that's why you usually need to farm to get a "good" negative.
What negatives effects do the cursed gems have?
These are all the negative blood gem effects that you can get.
ATK DOWN (8.2-8.8%)
ATK vs Beasts DOWN (-5.5-12%)
ATK vs the Kin DOWN (-5.5-12%)
Increases stamina costs (2.8-3.5)
WPN Durability DOWN (-58.5-63)
HP continues to decrease -(1-9)
What is the "least bad" or "good" negative effect of cursed blood gems?
The general consensus is that best negative would be:
Increases stamina costs (2.8-3.5) or ATK vs the Kin DOWN (-5.5-12%) for PvE
ATK vs Beasts DOWN (-5.5-12%) or ATK vs the Kin DOWN (-5.5-12%) for PvP
Gems which have "HP continues to decrease" or "ATK DOWN" are pretty much useless.
What gem shapes exist?
Blood gems exist in five different shapes which are
Radial which mostly have physical attack effects.
Triangle add attribute bonuses and extra effects (Thrust ATK UP / Add physical ATK for example).
Waning are elemental gems such as fire, bolt, or healing.
Circle are shapes that only fit in your firearms and so are used to fortify firearms.
(This shape is perfect for some negative effects like WPN Durability DOWN, Inc stamina costs)
Droplet blood gems are special gems that adapt to various weapons and shapes, naturally making them highly prized among hunters.
Can I farm a certain gem shape?
Yes, the best spot to farm for a certain shape are the Chalice Dungeons.
Radial Gems drop from Phtumeru dungeons.
Triangular Gems drop from Isz dungeons.
Waning Gems drop from Loran dungeons.
Circle Gems are farmed from all the chalice dungeons. (code: e99tdh9f for a good circle gem)
Droplet Gems are best farmed from Winter Lanterns in Nightmare of Mensis.
(The best spot is where there are 3 of them - on your way to drop Mother Brain into the abyss)
What are Blood Gem Ratings?
The rating strength of the gem, it ranges from 1-20.
The highest level gems can only be found in high level chalices.
All blood gems have a rating from 1 to 20 ((1) to (6) after the gem name).

(2) 5 - 7
(3) 8 - 10
Damp Blood Gems
(4) 11 - 13
(5) 14 - 16
(6) 17 - 19 <--- this is what you farming for
